VistaMare has been founded in May 2001 by Maurizio M. Gavioli and Laura Sezzi, as a consequence of the re-organisation of LAGO snc and as a mean to channel the experiences acquired during years of work for other companies.

Activities cover simulation software, with a particular interest for flight and train simulators, and network applications, both as independent projects and in collaboration with other companies.

Located on a hill side in the Genoese Riviera, looking at the Portofino peninsula and the Tyrrhenian Sea (whence the name), VistaMare's aim is to suit this rural and almost pre-industrial environment, emphasizing a handicraft approach to programming, keeping the organisation as light and 'soft' as possible, looking more at the great tradition of the Italian artisans of the past centuries than at the glamour of the 'new economy'.
