- editing some of the properties of the objects and of tracks;
- measuring distances along tracks
|
|

- Accessing scenario data files (.TSO files).
- Fine tuning route and scenario object data.
- Adding custom texts and notes to the route display.

Look at routes from a vantage point
|
For the developer: While creating Trainz routes, it is easy to get lost in the small details loosing the general picture. TrainzMap can give you a global view of the route.
Scenarios: if you are working on a scenario with modified objects from the original route, TrainzMap can show the objects actually used by the scenario.
For the user: While travelling in a freshly downloaded route, you may want to familiarize yourself with the tracks, the locations, the names. Explore the new route with TrainzMap or discover where that siding is which the current scenario is asking you to bring your train to.

|
Quick editing
|
For the developer: Change a track mark label or a trigger radius, correct a junction default direction. It is not difficult to do it in Surveyor, but if you are working on a scenario, firing Trainz each time is a waste of time.
Not to mention that TrainzMap allows to change the fixed vertex height flag of tracks, which Surveyor itself cannot do...

Print maps for reference or study
|
For the developer: Print global or local maps of your route to document to yourself the development stages, the points needing further work, to study new solutions or plan possible extensions.
It is also possible to add notes or short texts to the route.
For the user: Trainz has the map view, sure; but sometime this view is not very clear and in any case it is cumbersome to constantly flip back and forth the map view. Print reference maps of the routes to keep at hand while you drive or yard maps to find your way between sidings, junctions and platforms.
The amount of detail shown in the print-out can be customized to un-clutter large maps or to document precisely specific areas.

|
Generate map images to document your route
|
For the developer: Bitmaps with detailed maps of specific areas of your route can be inserted in the documentation to help the user finding his way.
Particularly within Trainz scenarios, complex shunting operations or tricky situations can be made easier to follow with a sketch of the relevant area.
TrainzMap images are on accurate scale and in common file formats (.BMP or TGA) and can be easily edited to add notes or captions or to remove unwanted details.
